Teen indicted on gun theft charges, will be tried as adult

According to Mat Heck's office, 17-year-old Adrian Taylor from Dayton was indicted for breaking into a Vandalia gun shop and stealing 42 firearms in 2015. The Prosecutor says in August, Taylor and two others broke into the Vandalia Range & Armory on Corporate Center Drive in Vandalia.

Troy man sentenced for fatal crash in Vandalia

Thirty-seven-year-old Scott Gray, from Troy, was sentenced Tuesday for four years in prison for his involvement in a fatal July 2015 crash. In the day following the crash, Gray fled the scene and later turned himself in to the Ohio State Highway Patrol's local office.

Secret Service jump on stage at Bernie Sanders rally

At least four people at a Bernie Sanders rally in Oakland rushed the stage Monday evening, spurring Secret Service agents to jump onto the raised platform and protect him. The Democratic presidential candidate was uninjured and continued speaking, but not before several agents hugged him and pushed him away from the microphone.

OVI checkpoint held ahead of holiday weekend

Thursday night, the State Highway Patrol held its first OVI checkpoint of the weekend in the Miami Valley in Vandalia on US Route 40. According to Lt. Mark Nichols with the Dayton post, it was his decision to conduct one on Thursday.
